This 2012 Handcrafted Fu Brick Tea is made from carefully selected Liu Dong (Six Caves) tea leaves from Anhua, Hunan. It was meticulously crafted by Liu family artisans, inheritors of China’s national intangible cultural heritage in traditional dark tea making. Each brick weighs approximately 900 grams, rich in aroma and aged character.

According to the Gansu Gazetteer, the production of Anhua dark tea (Heicha) dates back to the third year of the Jiajing reign (1524 CE) in the Ming Dynasty, along the southern banks of the Zishui River in Anhua. By 1595 (the 23rd year of the Wanli reign), dark tea had flourished and spread throughout the county, with the southern Zishui region becoming a bustling tea trading hub. Among all local varieties, Liu Dong tea was renowned for its superior quality.

The Liu Dong tea-growing region features fertile soil, mild climate, and abundant rainfall, creating ideal conditions for high-quality tea cultivation. The leaves are thick yet slender, deep green and tender in texture, with strong upright branches and dense foliage — characteristics that make them premium raw material for producing dark tea. Historically, Liu Dong tea was once regarded by tea merchants from Shanxi and other regions as one of the finest and most authentic teas (“Daodi Cha”) in China.
